YVONNE BRONNER,
Sc.D., R.D., is professor and founding director of the M.P.H./Dr.P.H.
Program at Morgan State University that received the maximum five-year
accreditation under her leadership. She is also director of their
Complementary and Alternative Medicine Research Training Program.
Dr. Bronner's research interest include the nutrition assessment
of school children - internal and external environmental factors,
role and appropriate utilization of Community Health Workers in
WIC, application of community-based participatory research methods
in developing, implementing and evaluating obesity interventions,
role of fathers in breastfeeding promotion among African American
families, and the epidemiological investigation of African American
Dietary knowledge, attitudes, beliefs and practices. Dr Bronner
led the research team that developed the video and supporting educational
materials entitled, "Fathers Supporting Breastfeeding."
More than 100,000 copies have been distributed in the US and internationally.
She was a Research Associate for the Nutrition During Pregnancy
and Nutrition During Lactation IOM reports as well as serving as
staff of the Committee on the Dietary Risk in the WIC Program. She
is a current member of the Secretary's Advisory Committee on Infant
Mortality, Baltimore's Babies Born Healthy Leadership in Action
Program, the American Dietetic Association's Board of Editors, and
the Chartwells Child Nutrition Advisory Council. Dr. Bronner is
a member of the American Dietetic Association, was a member 2005
- U.S. Dietary Guidelines Advisory Committee and serves on a number
of planning and review advisory committees at the national level.
Dr. Bronner earned a B.S. from the University of Akron, M.S.P.H.
from Case Western Reserve University, and Sc.D. from Johns Hopkins
School of Hygiene and Public Health in Maternal and Child Health.
