Public Health Graduate Programs
The MPH and DrPH graduate programs were developed with the recognition that the quality of life for many urban dwellers is diminishing. Many environmental and social forces are leading to increased risk of disease, disability, and premature death in our most underserved populations.
Consistent with MSU's vision and mission,
which include the goal of becoming a 'doctoral research university', the
School was established to meet regional needs and expand the representation
of African-Americans and other minority groups in public health. The Graduate
School currently offers a Master's of Public Health degree and a Doctorate
of Public Health degree.
MPH/Master's Degree: The Master of Public Health program prepares students to be public health professionals who draw on the knowledge and skills from a variety of disciplines to define and assess urban public health problems.
DrPH/Doctorate's Degree: The Doctor of Public Health program provides its students with research, policy making, program planning, and cultural skills. Graduates are competent in the development and implementation of health promotion and disease prevention programs which support behavior change at the community, family, and individual levels.
